A heartfelt Melbourne Cup Luncheon

Today’s Friends of Clifford Craig Melbourne Cup Luncheon at TAFE Drysdale Launceston brought together 120 guests for an afternoon of colour, connection, and community spirit — all in support of local health.

The event raised valuable funds for the Clifford Craig Foundation’s local medical research and hospital programs, helping to improve care for patients and families across Northern Tasmania.

This year’s luncheon held special meaning, with a heartfelt memorial to Angela Medwin, a beloved former event organiser and dedicated volunteer. Her legacy of generosity and community service was honoured with warmth and gratitude.

In a beautiful show of support for women’s cancer prevention and awareness, the room was adorned in pink — a fitting tribute on a day that also saw history made, as Jamie Melham became only the second woman to win the Melbourne Cup, a decade after Michelle Payne.

The Clifford Craig Foundation extends sincere thanks to all who attended, donated, and helped make the event a meaningful success. Special thanks to event organiser, Joy Belkner, TAFE Drysdale and Michael from Roberts Real Estate for facilitating the bidding.
