Grant applications

The Clifford Craig Foundation has a vision for the Launceston General Hospital to be recognised nationally and around the world as a centre for research excellence.

Expressions of Interest are now open for 2026 medical research grants. Opportunities for funding outside of this grant round are also available. The projects must represent a significant opportunity for Hospital based, clinician led research.

Medical research changes lives. It also enhances our health system’s ability to recruit, retain and train medical specialists of a high calibre.

In 2024 alone the Foundation committed more than $1,100,000 for a diverse range of medical research projects, hospital equipment and health initiatives and has budgeted to invest another $1,200,000 during 2025 into the North and North-West regions.

Our funding enables research teams to find better treatments for the health-related issues that impact Tasmanians now and into the future.

Importantly, the research and educational opportunities that we provide are intended to help attract and retain medical specialists, researchers and higher degree students to work here in Northern Tasmania which benefits our economy and community access to health.
