Research Grant applications

The Clifford Craig Health Foundation advances health outcomes across the region by funding and enabling translational health research that drives contemporary clinical practice, fosters innovation, and enhances the wellbeing of people accessing hospital and health services in North and North West Tasmania. This focus on translational, patient-centred research aligns with the Foundation's strategic priority of improving health and wellbeing through research, education and innovation.

Expressions of Interest for the 2026 Medical Research Grant Program are now closed. In 2027, the Clifford Craig Health Foundation will again conduct two grant rounds, with Expressions of Interest expected to open in February and July 2027. Through our grant programs, we support research that addresses local health priorities, improves patient care, and translates evidence into better health outcomes for our community. Our funding helps clinicians, researchers and health professionals undertake projects that have a direct impact on the delivery of healthcare in North and North West Tasmania.

Medical research changes lives. It also strengthens our region's capacity to recruit, retain and develop highly skilled clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals, supporting a sustainable healthcare workforce for the future.

In 2025 alone, the Foundation committed more than $1.2 million to medical research, health initiatives, education opportunities and equipment that enhance healthcare across Northern Tasmania.

Importantly, the research and educational opportunities funded by the Foundation help attract and retain medical specialists, researchers and higher degree students in the region, creating lasting benefits for patients, the health system and the broader community.
