Since the introduction of photography in Australia in the mid-19th century, the North-Eastern Soldiers' Memorial Hospital has been captured by many photographers.
Their works, before and after the building of the hospital and opening in 1920, form the basis of this collection. Held by members of the Scottsdale community, the hospital archives, past and present staff and other sources, many photographs have been brought to our attention.
Whilst preparing Celebrating a Century of Caring: North-Eastern Soldiers' Memorial Hospital 1920-2020, sourced photographs revealed milestones in the growth of the hospital and provided a snapshot into the social history, personalities and life in a busy health institution. Some of these images were included in the book, while others have been collated as the basis of this companion booklet: A Capsule in Time.
This booklet has been divided into several sections, depicting the first and second fifty years, with a snapshot of staff activities and life at the North-Eastern Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in 2020.
