In memoriam: Rosalind (Ros) O’Connor

31st May 1937 – 3rd July 2026

The Clifford Craig Health Foundation mourns the passing of our Patron, Ros O'Connor, a remarkable woman whose vision, dedication and leadership helped shape the Foundation from its very beginning.

Ros was instrumental in establishing the Clifford Craig Health Foundation in 1992 (formerly Clifford Craig Medical Trust), recognising the importance of community support in advancing healthcare outcomes across Northern Tasmania. As a founding Board member, she brought passion, wisdom and a deep commitment to the wellbeing of others, helping to build an organisation that continues to make a lasting impact. Instrumentally, Ros joined founding supporters to encourage local businesses and organisations to fundraise one million dollars within six months to establish the Trust’s local health programs.

Throughout her many years of service, Ros was a tireless advocate for the Foundation's mission. Her thoughtful leadership and unwavering belief in the power of philanthropy inspired those around her and strengthened the Foundation's connection with the community it serves.

Ros also shared a close association with the late John Morris AO, the Foundation's inaugural Chairman. Together, they helped establish the values, purpose and direction of the organisation during its formative years. Their shared commitment to improving healthcare created a legacy that continues to benefit generations of Tasmanians.

As Patron, Ros remained a steadfast supporter and trusted ambassador for the Foundation. Her influence will be felt for many years to come through the organisation she helped create and nurture. We were honoured to have Ros share our most recent milestone with the launch of the Clifford Craig Research & Innovation Centre in Launceston last year.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ros' family and friends and honour a life of exceptional service, generosity and community spirit. She will be remembered with great respect, gratitude and affection.
