2026 Business Excellence Awards finalists
LGH Giving Day guest presenters Mark, Sharmaine and Dr Ash Crosswell share how the regional hospital ICU team responded to Mark’s cardiac arrest in 2025.
The Clifford Craig Health Foundation has been named a finalist in the Building Exceptional Communities category of the 2026 CareSuper Business Excellence Awards, presented by the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, recognising the Foundation’s commitment to improving health outcomes and creating stronger, healthier communities across Northern Tasmania. The Foundation was among the finalists announced following a record number of award applications, highlighting the growing impact of organisations making a difference across the region.
The recognition reflects the Foundation’s focus on continual improvement and its expanding role as a registered health promotion charity. In the past year, the Foundation has launched two significant initiatives aimed at improving health equity and increasing access to healthcare information and support.
The Let’s Talk Health Series brings together leading health professionals and community members to discuss important health topics, improve health literacy and encourage informed decision-making. Complementing this initiative are the Foundation’s LGH Giving Day, which unite local communities in supporting hospitals and healthcare
services through targeted fundraising campaigns that help deliver equipment, patient care enhancements and other vital health initiatives.
Foundation Chair, Dr John Batten, said the finalist recognition highlights the organisation’s ambition to grow its impact beyond traditional hospital philanthropy.
“As a registered health promotion charity, our ambition extends beyond fundraising for hospitals. We want to help people better understand and navigate the healthcare system, connect our community with trusted health information, and grow local programs that focus on disease prevention and healthier lives,” Dr Batten said.
“Through initiatives such as our Let’s Talk Health Series and LGH Giving Day, we are creating opportunities for communities to engage with health services, improve health literacy and support equitable access to healthcare, regardless of where people live.”
Panel experts share insights on navigating the local health system, alongside lived experience reflections by Endometriosis Australia Tasmanian representative, Olivia Hicks.
The Foundation is also proud to support the awards program as sponsor of the Excellence in Regional Health Innovation category, which celebrates organisations and individuals driving innovation and improvements in healthcare delivery across Northern Tasmania.
Joining the Clifford Craig Health Foundation as finalists in the Building Exceptional Communities category are Solstice Energy, Beaconsfield House, Beaconsfield Family Medical Service, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The category recognises organisations that are making a meaningful contribution to social wellbeing, community connection and regional prosperity. Winners of the 2026 CareSuper Business Excellence Awards will be announced at the Gala Dinner on 8 August 2026, celebrating the businesses, organisations and community leaders helping shape Northern Tasmania’s future.
