Study participants needed | Help shape Australia's vaccine program through a LGH research project

Tasmanian participants are needed for two separate medical research projects evaluating vaccine efficacy, in relation to COVID-19 and influenza.

1.       The Platform Trial In COVID-19 Vaccine BOOsting (PICOBOO) Study is designed to evaluate the comparative effectiveness of COVID-19 booster vaccines. This study is now offering the fifth vaccine to people over the age of 50 and continuing to offer the third vaccine to adolescents aged 12-17.

2.       The Vaccine Immunomodulation Throughout the Aging Lifespan (VITAL) trial is using a systems biology approach to better understand and optimise immunity to influenza vaccination. Healthy males aged 20-50 years or males and females aged 65 and older are needed.

Both studies are being led by Infectious Disease Specialist Professor Katie Flanagan, out of the Tasmanian Vaccine Trial Centre at the Launceston General Hospital, with support from the Clifford Craig Foundation.

Professor Flanagan said this was an opportunity to participate in an important vaccine trial, while getting your annual flu vaccination or relevant COVID-19 booster.
