2024 Australian of the Year, Prof. Richard Scolyer AO, confirmed for Dare Shott Free Public Lecture in November

We are thrilled to confirm 2024 Australian of the Year, Prof. Richard Scolyer AO, will deliver this year’s Dare Shott Public Lecture on Tues, 12 November.

Alongside his colleague, Prof. Georgina Long, Prof. Scolyer was named 2024 NSW Australian of the Year for their innovative research into advanced melanoma, including the well-documented medical trials featuring Prof. Scolyer himself receiving trial treatment for glioblastoma (brain cancer).

Prof. Scolyer is a senior staff specialist with the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Tissue Pathology and Diagnostic Oncology Department. Being Launceston-born, Prof. Scolyer is committed to advocating the advancement of healthcare access and preventative health behaviours relating to sun safety here in Tasmania.
