Soup and Sandwich Luncheon a success

Last month our Launceston Friends of Clifford Craig pulled off another successful fundraising event in support of the Foundation.

More than 700 sandwiches and seven boilers of soup were served at this year's Soup and Sandwich Luncheon, featuring guest speaker Dr Paul Hanson at Kings Meadows Bowls Club.

Now in its 13th year, the annual event raised more than $4000, with Dr Hanson recalling tales from his recent adventures climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, and his career as a GP in Tasmania.

Speaking to The Examiner Newspaper, event coordinator Vicki Beresford said it was all for a great cause.

"Some of them book a table, bring all their friends, so it's an outing for people," she said.

"Most of them are older people - they get a group together and say 'let's go to the soup and sandwich'."

Each year the Friends group raise on average $30,000 in support of the Foundation’s medical research program in Northern Tasmania.

About 20 volunteers helped prepare the food and festivities.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible.
