A shot at Bridge goes a long way for MND research

Fundraising for the Clifford Craig Foundation can take many different shapes and forms – even a social game of Bridge.
On Friday close to 100 people came together at the Tamar Bridge Club, as part of a Benevolent Day hosted by the Launceston Golf Club.
Each year the club fundraises for different charities, and in 2023 members chose to support the Motor Neurone Disease research being conducted by the Clifford Craig Foundation at Launceston General Hospital.
An incurable disease, MND is a rare condition that progressively damages part of the nervous system.
The Launceston Golf Club have been personally impacted by MND over the years, with beloved member Barb Ferrall passing away just last month.
Member Susie Woolcock, who organised Friday’s event, also lost her daughter Angie Cunningham to the disease in 2016.
Susie said supporting a local charity was always a worthwhile cause.
“I think we have all had such a great life, so we need to give back now,” she said.
“It’s also about raising awareness for this disease.
“I call it ‘the beast’ and medical research is the only way we are going to find a cure for it.”
