In 2023 the Clifford Craig Foundation is once again facilitating an Introduction to Research Course at the Launceston General Hospital.

This innovative education initiative is aimed at encouraging and strengthening participation in health research at the hospital.

The six-week program kicked off on May 8, with almost 50 registrants signed up for this year's program representing a broad spectrum of healthcare.

This includes medical students, registrars, interns, nurses, allied health and more.

First offered in 2021, this new updated course is being led by gastroenterologist Professor Nicholas Shackel, Research Fellow Dr Sarah Young and Dr Kath Ogden and will cover topics including ethics and governance, design and theory and biostatistics.

The Foundation is also pleased to announce it will once again offer Early Career Research scholarships to selected participants of this course.

The two $12,500 scholarships will enable two clinicians that are new to research to undertake a fully supported translational research study at the LGH.

In 2022 the inaugural scholarships were awarded to LGH pharmacist Jessica Spokes and nurse Emma Szycman.

You can read more about their studies here.
