The Peter Hewitt Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to honour the memory of Professor Peter Hewitt (3/4/1959 – 30/7/2008), an eminent and highly respected surgeon, teacher and philanthropist.
The fund will provide support for either a final year undergraduate student based at the Launceston General Hospital and Launceston Clinical School or a resident medical officer of the Launceston General Hospital who has been a former medical student at the Launceston General Hospital and Launceston Clinical School to undertake elective studies at a centre for major trauma. Funds would assist with travel and living costs to make such study possible. Secondarily, funds may be allocated toward research or education relating to trauma surgery or hepatobiliary surgery.
