85: Barrett’s Dysplasia – a student project

Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) expression shift in oesophageal dysplasia: A student Project ($8,800) – Associate Professor Shan Rajendra; Zhen Lim.

The Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust has awarded its first ever undergraduate student research grant for research to be undertakn by Launceston Clinical Student Mr Zhen Shen Lim under the oversight of Chief Investigator Associate Professor Shan Rajendra.

This project could possibly identify shifts in the immune system (Human Leucocyte Antigen HLA expression) that can be used as an early surveillance marker for malignant changes from Barrett’s Oesophagus to Barrett’s Dysplasia to Barrett’s Cancer.  The cost of this research is funded by sponsorship from KPMG Launceston.
