46: Fatty acid binding protein in Crohns Disease

Human intestinal fatty acid binding protein in Crohns Disease ($12,500)

Crohns disease is an inflammatory bowel disorder and can be difficult to diagnose because its symptoms are similar to other intestinal disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome and colitis.

The study will look at exploring a better means of predicting disease activity by testing urine samples for levels of a particular fatty acid binding protein (IFABP).
By investigating the usefulness of IFABP as an indicator of disease activity before surgical intervention, this project will assist in the better management of the disease.
