Poliomyelitis revisited – how then effects now ($2,750)
A grant was given to the Post Polio Network to assist with the collation of the results of a survey into the extent of damage to health as a result of Polio and Post Polio Syndrome.
The information will be circulated to doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and other professionals that assist people who have had Polio. There is also a case for educating members of the community and politicians. Greater understanding may demonstrate the need for an assessment clinic in one of the public hospitals in Tasmania, as many mainland States have such clinics for patients who had Polio in the past. The information will reinforce the ongoing need to promote immunisation for all children.
