Effects of low density lipoprotein on vascular endothelial function in haemodialysis patients ($26,260)
Researchers, Associate Professor Rob Fassett and Mr Brad Dalton, commenced this ten month study in March 2000 with a grant from the Trust.
This collaborative project between the University of Tasmania and the Launceston General Hospital aims to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease in Haemodialysis patients. The study investigates the effect of cholesterol on blood vessel function.
Haemodialysis patients attending the Renal Unit at the Launceston General Hospital, who wish to volunteer for the study, will have their blood vessel function assessed in the Radiology Department at the Launceston General Hospital. The non invasive measurement uses the latest technique of high resolution colour ultrasound. The information gained from this project will be valuable in preventing vascular disease in haemodialysis patients.

Tasmania's Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust was established in 1991.
